Hello, welcome to my first blog post. I'm not sure how you got here, but welcome.
I thought I would at least give some background to why I started this post.
Background
I first came across this blog post thanks to a Telegram group chat I'm in. I was drawn in by the minimalistic design of the blog. It looked so clean and neat and modern.
I'm not sure what struck me, but I decided to look at that blog again, and I thought to myself: why not start my own blog? Admittedly, blogs have kind of fallen out of fashion these days1, but I still keep a physical, written journal with me. This blog will essentially be an extension of my journal, that can support new formatting, and hyperlinks2, and even images! So within a span of an hour, I signed up for a blog in this blogging platform, and here I am writing my first post.
Setting Up The Blog
I'm gonna dedicate a section here on how I created this blog with a custom domain, so that other people who see this will have a (hopefully) smooth process on how to do it.
- First, register on mataroa.blog. I don't think I need to elaborate much on this, it's a very straightforward process.
- Next, go to a domain registrar and purchase a domain name of your choice. I used namecheap, but other domain registrars will work just fine.
- Once you purchased your domain name, go to the domain registrar's website and add an
A Record
to the DNS (at first I thoughtA Record
was a typo, but its really called that) with the IP address indicated in your blog settings. - Enter your custom domain and you're good to go!
Purpose
So, what am I gonna do with this blog? I'll be honest with you, I'm not sure. I thought I'll use this blog to type out thoughtful, insightful mini-essays on whatever topic interests me, or document interesting and specific events in my life. I'll play by ear I suppose. I don't intend to publicise this blog, maybe I'll drop a link to some of my friends. As of now, this blog is simply an island among millions of websites on the Internet that may be discovered by a random stranger.
I hope that this blog will entertain you as much as I have writing this.
Be seeing you.
